We will meet at the Evergreen Park and Ride and then spread out to clean up the sides of the highway between Mcdonald's and King Soopers.

The Boulder Flatirons Rotary Club will be partnering with the MASA Seed Foundation to provide volunteers for the Foundation’s plant nursery, the fields, the Seedhouse. MASA’s volunteers enjoy a diverse crop-growing experience and learn many aspects of farming and seed growing. We will have two shifts (morning and afternoon) between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Little Free Pantry Food Drive

Dickens Farm Nature Center Clean Up

About This Project:

Members, families and friends are needed! We adopted the Dickens Farm Nature Area on Boston Avenue between Main and Martin streets along the St Vrain Creek. This section has been developed and improved following the 2013 flood

The Adopt-a-Park program in partnership with the City of Longmont requires us to spend at least one day per month at the nature area, picking up trash and debris, cleaning up shelters and play areas, and reporting vandalism, non-functioning lights or other damage to the area. We will be using the 3rd Saturday of each month from 8 am to 10 am to do this work. Meet at the Dickens' Farm Nature Area parking lot off of Martin St. Wear gloves and comfortable, closed-toe shoes recommended.

We have compiled a list with Bal Swan staff on Spring projects they are looking to complete. Please note when you volunteer any interest in a specific project listed below. We will assign volunteers as needed on the day of service as well.

We would like to thank Ryan Wolf with A More Perfect Union that will providing lunch for our volunteers from 11:00 to 12:00. Either at the end of you morning shift and or at the beginning of your afternoon shift.

1. Painting line-up shapes on the playground on the North side. We are in need of 3 to 4 volunteers per shift for this task.
2. Painting hopscotch/road/etc....on the playground near the front of the building. We are in need of 2 to 3 volunteers per shift for this task.
3. Install a tunnel on two different playgrounds. We are in need of 3 to 4 volunteers per shift for this task.
4. Clean out gutters. We are in need of 2 to 3 volunteers per shift for this task.
5. Power wash the building.
6. Spread mulch to make sure we have the right depth. We are in need of 2 to 3 volunteers per shift for this task.
7. Wax the linoleum floors.
8. Sand and stain the wood gym floor.
9. Paint pool floor. We are in need of 2 to 3 volunteers per shift for this task.
10. Rake up and bag leaves around the property. We are in need of 1 to 2 volunteers per shift for this task.

The DENVER SOUTHEAST, HIGHLANDS RANCH, DENVER LODO and CENTENNIAL SATELLITE clubs are joining forces with Project CURE to deliver health and hope to those in need. We’ll sort and pack life-saving medical equipment and supplies collected from local healthcare providers and prepare them for shipment throughout the world to medical facilities serving people suffering from poverty, disasters, and violence.

Roles include: Preparing medical supplies for shipment by sorting, quality checking, packing, or labeling supplies. (This can be done sitting down)
Preparing equipment for shipment by cleaning, testing, or labeling equipment.
Special projects such as breaking open surgical packs, size sorting scrubs, etc.
Warehouse logistics, such as moving boxes, equipment, etc. to make our warehouse more efficient. (This requires some effort)

County-wide plastic film recycling

About This Project:

The Rotary Club of Summit Count has an on-going weekly plastic film recycling project in association with Trex, which uses the film in their product, and we have up-cycled over 12,000 pounds of plastic film over 2 years. We will extend this pick-up to the entire county for our Epic Day of Service. We will work with the Breckenridge Club. Volunteers will visit local businesses several weeks prior to the day of service to ask them to save clean plastic film and we will pick it up, clean it and weigh it on the day of service. We have arranged to drive the plastic to a Trex pick up point in Denver where it will be put on a truck and sent to Trex. We need volunteers to canvass the local businesses 2-3 weeks prior to the Day of service and need teams to pick up plastic, transport it to the high school, clean and weigh it and load it into the truck.

Smoky Hill Fire Safety Field Day

In conjunction with Aurora Fire Rescue, Smoky Hill Rotary, Aurora Rotary, and Fitzsimmons Rotary will participate in a kick-off event and fundraiser to purchase a Mobile Fire Education House to be used for safety education at schools and in the community. The May 18th Fire Safety Field Day will be at the Aurora Safety Training Center at 29590 East Quincy Ave, Aurora (by the Aurora Fairgrounds) from 9:00-12:00. Firefighters will man stations that include activities for all ages from putting out a real fire with hoses, watching a Jaws of Life at work, a firefighter chase with firefighters in gear, an aerial ladder climb, pictures with firefighters, fire trucks and emergency vehicles to explore and more. The event is free and donations are welcome.
We are also looking for volunteers for the May 18th Fire Safety Field Day.

Kissing Camels Flag Project

East Rotary Club of Colorado Springs works alongside the Boy Scouts of America to install flag poles in neighborhood communities and raise American flags at those locations on five major holidays of the year: Flag Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day. The club provides financial and administrative support for the Boy Scout's project and helps install the poles at residences. We will have several volunteer shifts in April and May, including a shift on May 18th, to dig holes and pour the concrete to install new flag pole foundations and sleeves and to repair existing ones.

Englewood Rotary Club is Partnering with Denver Metro South Rotary Club!

It is our mission to serve a minimum of 1,000 children through the EPIC Day of Service. We will be packing 1,000 backpacks with food for students who struggle with food insecurity. The Backpack Society provides food to kids on weekends and school breaks when they don’t have access to food at school.

In addition to packing the backpacks, we will be assisting the Backpack Society with any needs they have inside their Food Pantry like sorting food, stocking shelves, packing bins, etc.

There may also be opportunities for us to pack Birthday Boxes, Family Boxes, Crisis Boxes, and design hand-made birthday cards.

Food donations will also be accepted.

The Backpack Society currently supports 48 schools in the Douglas County and Littleton School Districts, and they are currently opening support to Englewood Schools.

The Backpack Society is a 100% Community supported non-profit located at 213 W. County Line Road, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129.

Day of cleanup

Rotarians will meet for fellowship by getting together with other volunteers for breakfast at 9:00 am. We will then proceed to two areas, one is a highway clean up and the other is River Trail cleanup. The highway cleanup is a week prior to the IRON HORSE bicycle race that sees 2,500 bicycles, both pro and amateur, race from Durango to Silverton over two mountain passes. State Highway 550 is closed to traffic for this event and this draws an international and local audience.
The River Trail, is a trail system that traverses the entire distance of Downtown Durango along Animas River.

Fire Safety for Seniors in Thornton

Join the fun on Saturday, May 18, for the Rotary Day of Service - 9:30am to 3:00pm.

Northglenn/Thornton Rotary, in partnership with the Thornton Fire Department and the American Red Cross, will install 10-year lithium-ion battery smoke detectors in Thornton’s 55-and-older mobile home park community.

Volunteers will visit the homes of people who choose to participate in teams of 3. One volunteer will help homeowners with an escape plan in case of a fire (Educator), a 2nd person will install the new smoke alarm (Installer), and a 3rd person will be responsible for documentation (Documenter).

You do not have to be a Rotary member to volunteer. Training and materials will be provided.
