Fire Safety Field Day
Imagine children not having the knowledge to exit safely from their burning house or how to avoid starting a fire in their house. Smoky Hill Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Aurora, and Aurora Fire Rescue are working together to purchase a Mobile Fire Education Trailer that can be used for fire safety education for children in schools and in the community. The safety trailer will be a mobile version of a private house and can be infused with theatrical smoke to simulate real-life fire conditions. But we need donations from the community to make this happen.
In addition, we are hosting a Fire Safety Field Day for families to highlight the need for fire education. It will run from 10:00-1:00 on May 17th at the Aurora Public Safety Center, 25950 E Quincy Ave. It will include a FireFighter-Kids Fun Run at 11:00 and 12:00 and a Fire Simulation at 10:30 and 11:30. Many other interactive activities include Extraction demos, Hose Play & Spray, Thermal Imaging, Touch a Truck, Dress up like a Fireman and more. There will be food trucks, as well. Donations are encouraged for the Aurora Fire Rescue Fire Safety Trailer. If you can’t make the event, consider a donation anyway through this site. Come and have a fun day with lots of fire related activities! We can also use volunteers to help run this event.
