Coastal Restoration Project
The Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club has embarked upon an 8 month project with local non profit, Groundswell Coastal Ecology to restore iconic coastal habitats in the City of Santa Cruz. Our May 17 workday will be the second of 4 bimonthly workdays the Club undertakes. The Club will work along side other community members to remove invasive plants, prepare planting sites, plant native plants, weed, water and mulch along West Cliff Drive and in Lighthouse Field. On May 17, Club member volunteers will meet at Steamer Lane Supply to receive instruction on that morning's work. Club member volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, clothing layers, hats, work gloves and sunscreen. Please remember to wear your Sunrise Rotary Volunteer t-shirt and we will have some on hand for those who do not have a t-shirt yet. The Club will also table at this event, gaining exposure to the community and visitors in this high traffic area. Snacks and refreshments will be available to sustain volunteers through the morning's work. The morning will conclude with a photo of Club member volunteers, community member volunteers and Groundswell staff. #groundswellecology
